This product was named after Lucy Stone.

Lucy Stone was an early advocate of antislavery and women’s rights. She was the first woman to earn a college degree in Massachusetts, and one of the first few women in the United States. She’s also known for keeping her own name after getting married to Henry Blackwell, a completely radical notion at the time. She founded the weekly feminist newspaper, “The Woman’s Journal,” covering women’s issues and helping to promote women’s rights. The paper played a significant role in energizing the movement and leading to the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920. An often overlooked suffragette because of her antislavery work, Lucy Stone worked tirelessly to bring about women’s rights and civil rights.

“Now all we need is to continue to speak the truth fearlessly, and we shall add to our number those who will turn the scale to the side of equal and full justice in all things.” - Lucy Stone
